There is Hope
Challenges are part of our daily lives. In life, no doubt, there are a lot of event or things that tends to work against us. Sometimes, the persecution may even come from our own house. It is only determination that can help us achieve our aim in this critical time of injustice and oppression every where-depriving people of living their best and full potential. Whatever has happened, happening that appear to suggest all hope is lost, I want to tell you that there is HOPE. All you need is to put up a positive attitude and determine to succeed. Determination and hope will say to yourself “even though I may have been knocked down several times, I’m not going to stay down- Positive Attitude!
I read a story about a primary school pupil in a class of twenty of population, the classroom capacity of 40 by 50 feet. I was a case of outright oppression and child abuse. A jealous class teacher who felt the boy has known too much, and above his age decided to silence him. The boy was reported to have a lot of energy and sound brain, who always like to ask the teacher questions that sometime put him off-balance, and he was not happy with the boy courage. The boy was a smart, but of small statue, such that he had to stand up on his seat each time he wanted to ask question, even with his sitting position at the third row in the classroom.
One fateful day, as usual, during a class teaching, the boy stood up on his seat and raised his hand up to ask question. But, the teacher said, “Boy, sit down!” He sat down for a few minutes and stood up on his seat again and raised his hand up. Again, the teacher said “Boy, I said sit down!!” The boy sat down.
These happened several times, and then the boy stood up this time wouldn’t want to sit down. So the teacher held his two hands and locked them across his head and pushed him to sit down and gave an order never to stand up until the end of the class. So, the boy sat down there smiling. Finally, he looked at his teacher and said, “Sir, I may be sitting down on the outside, but I’m standing up on the inside.”- that was a clear case of oppression and child abuse.
That boy kind of positive attitude is what we need, if we must succeed. Life is not fair to any body. Sometimes our circumstances may force us to sit down a while, but we must not stay down. Even when we are sitting down on the outside, we must see ourselves as standing on the inside. Sometimes when circumstances that appeared stronger than us is fighting us, all we need at that moment is to stop struggling and put up a positive attitude, see it as a phase that’ll pass away with time!
